The Star Trek Universe would have been better if someone had said "Screw the Okampa, I want to go home!". given the overall climate of vulcan i would have expected any vulcan to be black or (because of different biological sun-protection than humans have) none...unless of course vulcan once had a more earth-like nature with different zones but for all i saw it was very much a giant desert-ball with some blobs of water.
